Mildly interesting: these two trucks have the same bed length.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz yes, but the right one is way more fun

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz fun fact, the driver on the left can barely see the truck on the right.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz suspect, due to less wheel arch intrusion, the one on the right also has more cargo capacity?

  • @KiwiEV@mastodon.nz But the one on the left makes a tiny penis seem bigger.

  • @KiwiEV@mastodon.nz One is built for moving stuff and the other for exuding masculinity.

  • @KiwiEV@mastodon.nz Similar to the '86 F150 I had back in the day. Regular cab and 8' bed. Made for hauling stuff not people, though it could seat three. The top of the bed rail was much lower. You could reach over the side to get stuff out of there. Pretty much impossible with new trucks.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz Yeah, but the one on the left has more doors. And a better sound system. Plus it's taller. And it eats Ken-L Ration. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uZAourInlHY

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz Yes, but one has also to transport a greater ego.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz One is designed to move a lot more male insecurity than the other.

  • @KiwiEV@mastodon.nz I've used the type on the right (Japanese Kei Car compliant?) for hauling motorbikes around in the eighties. They are *great* with many options for the load area at the back - open, closed, passenger, campervan,… Several manufacturers like Daihatsu, Subaru, Suzuki, Isuzu, Electric versions would be even better.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz I have a 19’ camping trailer that has a max weight of 4500lbs that I pull with a 13 year old SUV with a 3L diesel engine. Recently I’ve been thinking of upgrading my tow vehicle to a 2024 Toyota Tacoma which has a max tow capacity of 6500lbs. Multiple people on the Facebook group for my trailer have told me I NEED a full sized half ton truck (tow capacity of 13,000lbs) and some suggested a 3/4 ton truck (tow capacity of 16,000lbs) would be even better because of “safety”. It’s madness.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz Id have to verify but it's also quite likely that the smaller one has more bed width. It's definitely not less, I know for sure

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz Today's trucks are like a Big Daddy Roth parody of real trucks of the '70s.

  • @KiwiEV@mastodon.nz it was never about the bed size. One is a pickup, the other is an SUV designed as the result of American capitalism to occasionally carry a whole family and tow a massive oversized camper twice a year (masquerading as a pickup).

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz @Nerdfest@mastodon.online To the left is a glorified SUV that Americans like to call a truck. To the right is an actual truck.

doesn't the one on the left have a super amount of empty space under the hood? like the tiniest of engines and a void between it and the chassis? not that i have a need for a car or truck at the moment but, JFC. i would most like not buy anything American made in the last 12-15 years. @KiwiEV@mastodon.nz
