@nixCraft@mastodon.social It's easier to convince me that AI is conscious than that human has a soul in the way Catholics or religious people define it. Machine consciousness similar to human is theoretically possible, the spiritual essence that animates the human person is just magical thinking.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social I don't believe in a literal soul, but I still find the proposal by Anthropic utterly revolting. Mostly because it cheapens and commodifies such a profound concept to the human experience and our history. To try and claim a product has the same innate value as an actual conscious being.
