It's easier to convince me that AI is conscious than that human has a soul in the way Catholics or religious people define it.
Machine consciousness similar to human is theoretically possible, the spiritual essence that animates the human person is just magical thinking.

@tinkel@mastodon.social @nixCraft@mastodon.social the reality of a soul, the absence of reality of a soul: doesn't matter what matters is enough people believe in the soul. and so the church said: "nope" when it comes to AI it's not a philosophical or even theological victory. it's a political victory. if AI can have a soul, people start talking about AI in ways that are absolutely vile like rights it's bad enough some chuds think corporations have rights. now imagine these babbling assholes talking up AI rights
