Interesting video about authors using — or not using? — AI in their (potentially) bestselling novels. Who isn't getting away with it and who is? It's a long video but definitely human-made with priceless glimpses of a lot of bad writing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DDuG6b7aw8&feature=youtu.be

Up early and feeling ambitious! Yesterday was a totally lazy day, although I did get the car unpacked and do laundry. I'm hoping to get a lot more done today, starting with mowing my lawn a few times to get the grass length down to where it should be. I'd also like to harvest all of my potatoes and onions and start putting the garden beds to bed. And maybe sometime in my studio finishing up some jewelry projects? I'll be at Leavenworth next weekend for an art show.

Another smart device in my home has gone bad. I'm at the point that I now have a small inventory of smart switches and smart plugs to replace the ones that go bad. My Samsung SmartThings network is shrinking while my Apple Home network is growing. I look forward to the day when I can completely kill SmartThings -- but not the process of opening up and replacing wall switches to make that happen. 🙄 #SmartHome

I've been watching a lot of videos on excellent YouTube channels that cover filmmaking theory and techniques. I've always been interested in documentaries in filmmaking and even made one about 15 years ago. I'd really like to get back into making videos.

Got my new license plates. This should motivate me. It might also prevent me from trying to get into the wrong car, which I've done three times now. 🙄 #TheseCarsAllLookAlike #caturday

All five of my hummingbird feeders were empty. They are now full. I'm just waiting for the birds to start coming back.

@509freckles@mastodon.social @LabSpokane@mas.to Does he have a clipped ear? Sometimes they mark catch-and-release feral cats that have been spayed or neutered.

There's a Women on the Water meeting next door at the yacht club and I tried twice to join in, but it's so freaking BORING. (Sorry ladies!) I'm going to finish my drink and head back to the boat. I'm just plain tired.

My current client, in conversation, argues that things are better now than they've ever been for everyone, including folks at the bottom. He bases this opinion on a book written 8 years ago called "Factfulness." He urges me to read it, saying it's very convincing. But do I want to be convinced about the condition of today's world based on a book published almost a decade ago? No thanks. 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

A sailing club or regatta just rounded Shaw Island. This one came close enough for a good shot. Nothing like seeing a dozen or more sailboats under sail power! #boating #Sailing #PNW

Now that most of the debris field has floated past, I think I'm going to launch the dinghy and take it to shore with my dogs so they can run around a little. This cove is adjacent to an old quarry and it looks like a road goes down to it. There were people there earlier but there's no one there now.

Definitely not the kind of floating log you'd want to run into at 8 to 10 kn. I'm not sure, but I think it's stuck on the mooring ball.🙄 #boating

I'm at a mooring ball at Smugglers Cove, which is new to me. There are four balls here and I was originally at one further back in the cove, but it was swinging the boat into water of questionable depth. We're having a minus 1 1/2 low tide and I was uncomfortable staying there for the night. So when my neighbor on the next mooring ball left, I started up and moved. I'm in much deeper water now, but the wind and tied are blowing in all kinds of nasty debris.

Still in the low 60s here at 9:30 AM. I had to adjust my thermostat so the heat wouldn't come on by accident. I've got the windows open; the wind seems to have blown all the smoke away. But chilly!

I set up my Coolfly bird camera this morning. I now have a dozen short videos or #hummingbirds at this feeder. Thanks for the recommendation, @Ostdrossel! #BirdWatching

Stopped at the Kettle River recreation area and it turns out that the Kettle River rail trail goes right through here. I crossed the trestle and took a hike in the woods. This is also part of the trans Canada Trail. There's so much recreation and history in this area! #OCanada! 🇨🇦 #hiking #history #RailTrail #RoadTrip

#OCanada! 🇨🇦 I'm trying to spend money in your fine country and your banks won't exchange $100 US for Canadian currency unless I have an account. I'm all out of Canadian cash so now I'm going to have to charge everything. Who benefits? (The answer: no one.) #RoadTrip

🇨🇦 Attention Canadians! 🇨🇦 My trip to Coeur d'Alene was canceled because my Arizona friends supposedly caught a cold and think the air isn't good enough for a visit there. 🙄 I'm trying to think of where I can go for a few days just to get away. I think I'm going to go north, into #Canada, to show them some love by spending money there instead of in the US. I just need to figure out where to go where there's little or no smoke. I think my home has become #hummingbird central. I have five 8-oz hummingbird feeders and I keep them full all the time in the summer. I'm currently going through 2 quarts of sugar water a week. Birds are buzzing around from first light until last night. Sadly, I'm also #yellowjacket and #hornet central. I just set up another three wasp traps and all three of them were catching #wasps within 20 minutes. I also just sprayed a few hornet nests. So I'll stay inside for a while.😬

I think my blog just got a post from the guy who taught me how to fly this. We had a huge falling out and I haven't spoken to him in about 10 years. Looks like he's trying to get in touch. I'll have to forgive him because I completely forgot what he did to piss me off so badly that I walked out of dinner with him and never spoke to him again.🤔

Great. New smoke seems to be coming out of a canyon about 7 miles from me. They just launched one of the fire helicopters over to take a look. He's over the canyon now. Nothing on watch duty yet. A fire in a canyon a bunch of years ago led to the destruction of an entire neighborhood.

Well, that was something. I just assembled the tent I bought for car #camping. Only three poles and they are lightweight and shock corded, which is all good. But they are also very tight, especially the one that goes across the top. I really struggled and I suspect I put more strain on my left hand than I should have because it hurts. Damn. When I was finally done I discovered that the tent cannot stand up on its own unless it is staked into the ground on all 4 corners. (1/3)
