Another smart device in my home has gone bad. I'm at the point that I now have a small inventory of smart switches and smart plugs to replace the ones that go bad. My Samsung SmartThings network is shrinking while my Apple Home network is growing. I look forward to the day when I can completely kill SmartThings -- but not the process of opening up and replacing wall switches to make that happen. 🙄 #SmartHome

@mlanger@mastodon.world The Eve “smart (plugs/receptacles)” have a low tolerance for voltage spikes/brown outs. I know from experience. I was hoping for a remote reboot (have you tried unplugging…) convenience when it seemed that simple voltage variations caused the devices to fail. I still have some unused ones I’ll givee away…

@mlanger@mastodon.world If I were to do it again, I would not install in-wall smart outlets - would get smart plugs instead.
