Caught up with the first episode of It Takes Two and Ellie is such a safe pair of hands. It didn't feel as scripted and rehearsed (though it was). More like the Claudia days, including comments that will have gone over kids' heads #Strictly

Well having read the latest in the Leicestershire saga, they really should have had legal representation. Nobody seemed to realise that the two different penalties would both be applied. The CDP has no power over the 19 point deduction, but have wiped 8 of what are supposed to be a minimum 16 point deduction due to 27 points just being too many. Hmm, you don't arrest people on suspicion of terrorism, with all of the extras you get (like two weeks to question them) and then let them out on bail after a couple of days, if they were actually terrorists (they can't be associated with Palestine Action in any way then). They were a long way from London though, but there are lots of illegal activities that would have been greased by mocking up vans with fake logos: various illegal countryside bloodsports (badger baiting, hare coursing...

Good, I've been thinking about that dog that the police made the owners leave behind. I'm glad they went and got it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c65y7nl29k0et?post=asset%3Aea736565-8e5c-488e-a767-7f1ab0223048#post. #Fairford

RE: https://mstdn.social/@junesim63/117347113352349696 See also the legal threats against #parkrun another charity whose weekly events are facilitated entirely by unpaid volunteers. They provide a course for anyone to run or walk around at a specified time and will provide participants with their time upon presentation of an identifying barcode. What anyone links to that barcode in terms of name, age or gender is not policed by parkrun (no 'papers, please' or medical tests required)...

Pottering about in the garden and the peace and quiet is shattered by the neighbour's child screaming 'Daddy, pay attention to me'. Kudos for knowing what you want (attention) and how to get it (screaming), I guess.

I had to delete Meowdoku from my phone after less than 24 hours. Too addictive, and ads (when it was marketed as no ads).

Oopsie, the pub's owner completely misread the room on this one https://www.bristol247.com/culture/art/artists-heavily-criticise-ai-generated-mural/ Not only is there the environmental impact of producing the image using AI, the vinyl is not even going to be up for a week. #bristol #ai

Well, well, well. Isn't it interesting how the BBC manages to mention that Daniel Thomas (Danny Thommo) livestreamed a small boat crossing but not that he slashed that dinghy with a knife whilst a rescue worker was still on board, having helped the occupants off. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ck1l6yed62v5o Compare with the Guardian who manage to correctly identify DT as a far-right activist https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/sep/22/far-right-activist-daniel-thomas-slashes-dinghy...

Somehow it's cervical screening time again and I still can't book this online/via the NHS app. I have to actually contact my GP on the phone, or walk into the surgery in order to complete this admin. Luckily for me they are a couple of minutes' walk away, so I'll just walk in tomorrow and we can compare calendars. But it's 2026. I can manage various vaccinations via online booking, why not this?

RE: https://mastodon.social/@liebcricket/117314056196448339 And this is how I find out that Mark Wood has (unsurprisingly) retired from International cricket. Thank goodness my instance is back up and running after its earlier outage.

Interesting story. I doubt that the procurement of a fake/forged certificate was illegal. But if that fake/forged certificate was then used to travel internationally - well that could easily be breaching conditions of entry, which could have very serious consequences (though unlikely, because footballer). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c3qjkpgengn7o

It is frustrating that the BBC cricket page managed to mention Middlesex men winning the One Day Cup today, and Notts women winning the same yesterday, but do not mention that the Middlesex women won the One Day Cup in their tier/league today. Two tier reporting indeed. #cricket

Good on the much less famous, much less rich, supporting musicians who have more to lose than Ed Sheeran for showing what it is to have a spine. Once again he's been overstating his Irish roots. #EdSheeran

RE: https://sudomakecake.com/@woollypigs/117271114095543076 Unfortunately not the first fatalities at a Great Run event in hot weather. I'm glad that people formed screens to give them dignity (I've also seen too many people take photos/video). A reminder to slow down when it is hot, and take advantage of screening programs like Cardiac Risk in the Young if you qualify. Also, learn CPR, lots of free courses out there and while you hope you'll never need it, you might save a life....

Lots of wickets in Division 1 today (75 so far, I think), only batting bonus points to be found in the second division so far (though not in Canterbury) #cricket #CountyChampionship

The neighbour's cat has been drinking from the bird bath like he's never seen water before. Meanwhile I am watering the garden by hand from the refilled water butts as there is no rain forecast for at least another week.

Short on time and locations this morning after a week resting my achilles from workouts and just easy running. It was back to where my #running journey started doing couch25k round my local park, but this time for a Mona fartlek (2x90s, 4x60s, 4x30s, 4x15s). Happy with the paces and didn't get chased by any of the dogs also trying to beat the lastest #UKHeatwave I now get to trap and transport 2 cats for their annual vaccinations. #TrackTuesday #RunnersOfMastodon
