@contrasocial@mastodon.social But aren't their boosts an extension of "their thoughts" ? If I boost something that I read that means that it resonates with me somehow. People who see it know that I boosted it and know that it's meaningful to me.
Also, you know you can turn off seeing Boosts right?
And how do you "raise the visibility" without an algorithm to push it to you? And I'm fairly sure boosting is a "conscious way of deliberately sharing". So I'm not sure what you mean by that?

@Mrfunkedude@mastodon.social Part of the issue is that it's much easier to boost a thing than formulate something yourself, so if someone follows people they're more likely to see this re-posted content as opposed to content from the specific people they follow. Yes, you can turn off boosts but that's not necessarily what I want. I'm fine with boosts/reposts as an option but as the only means to help something trend it results in a homogenization of feeds. It's about the visible ratio, if that makes sense.
