That is most definitely part of it too. As in: let's not have European big tech, but open source, cooperative European tech.
I can't not include the US/EU angle, though. I wish that were different.

@joeposaurus@chaos.social I've been working in free software (that's what "open source" was called before the idea was sold to big tech) for some 30 years and many if not most advancements have come from the USA. Needless to say many USA friends of mine have been and still are fighting this battle with us. I really don't get the USA angle when talking about free software. We should be looking at licenses and organizational structures.
