Yes, the average usian is skeptical of war, at this point.
That's because they watched over a decade and a half of this country having its ass handed to it with little to show for it. It's hard to want more war with so many bodies piling up and no stars and stripes glory comes out of the loss.
Eventually people lose their war lust after pounding their collective heads against the wall long enough.
Not the politicians of course, but others do.

But usians didn't have that change of feeling out of the goodness of their hearts. The change came because the u.s. military had its ass kicked hard enough for long enough and there was no visible resolution in the offing. Were it not for that protracted ass kicking, the average american asshole would still be waving the flag for the next military conquest.
