I mean, code violation rules are there to protect people?

Is this an actual issue? your home should not be so bad that its violating city code. If it is you should be getting a blight notification. Having the city to under resourced to notice and take action doesnt change that this is a negative thing. The only angle I can see bad about this is false notices going out or increasing the work load for city council workers sifting through all the new reports.

Yet another reason to move to the boonies where the only garbage truck is your own beater every couple weeks. And you accidentally turn a whipped cream container into a steam rocket.

How do you beat something like this with technology? It must be possible.

My city has them now. A friend of mine got flagged for overfilled bins. Before it only flagged you if the driver did, and the driver only would if it was egregious. The AI doesn’t GAF and reports fucking everything apparently.

eh, code violations are a local government thing. If your town is a giant HOA then look in the mirror. Done properly code violations are serious things you do actually need to fix.
