Is this an actual issue? your home should not be so bad that its violating city code. If it is you should be getting a blight notification. Having the city to under resourced to notice and take action doesnt change that this is a negative thing. The only angle I can see bad about this is false notices going out or increasing the work load for city council workers sifting through all the new reports.

    Yeah, let’s just unleash completely unreliable tech to punish people for shit that the city isn’t even willing to fund enforcement of! The station caught up with local real estate broker Ty Williams, who got a courtesy notice for “chimney paint” on a house he owned after one of these cameras came by. He shared a photo of the chimney, and it’s, like, just a regular chimney with some slight discoloration from age. Human review isn’t doing shit to avoid the inherent problem with the system. This is just the new version of red light cameras, which are also unreliable and incentivize punitive fines.
