I would never have imagined "Lutheran baroque" until I saw the royal pews inside the Stockhom's Storkrykan, since 1942 (I think) Stockholm's cathedral.

🧵 5/21 Walking alongside the French garden at Drottningholm palace and hearing the the splash of fountains, I experienced a few moments of perfect happiness. I was interested to read that much of the bronze statuary had been brought back to Sweden from Prague as spoils during the Thirty Years War. In addition, I felt oddly touched to learn that on account of inadequate water pressure, the fountains only started to work properly in 1961.
