#KpopMonday #RoundAndRound fromis_9 -- Rewind https://youtu.be/AP30XqdqD7U?si=hnBFQnCTAi_A-tiS I enjoy fromis_9 being bright and cute, but some of their later, more mature B sides hit the spot with me too. The "Rewind" title is a connection, albeit tenuous, with the theme, but if you listen carefully to Nagyung just after the 1:00 mark, you will hear her sing " Going round n round". They did stages in all black outfits, but I think the pants and black and white contras...

#KpopOfTheWeek Every weekend I look back at the preceding week in Kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen Le Sserafim -- Made My Night -- Studio Choom. Of all the versions of "Made My Night" that have appeared recently, I like this Studio Choom the best. The absence of Overwatch clutter, tech dress, and set decoration makes this simple piece of dance pop a pleasure for me to watch. The song is too short, a little repetit...

🧵1/21 I've recently come back from a short holiday in Stockholm. I'm not going to post about everything I did and saw there, but will note some highlights and things I noticed on my first visit to Sweden. Ever since the 1936 publication of Marquis Child's "The Middle Way", Sweden has enjoyed a special place in the hearts and minds of anglophone social democrats. I'm aware that Childs might have given an idealized portrait of Sweden, and I am also aware that Swede...

Such venom reminds me of how unpleasant online popular cult...

Every weekend I look back at the preceding week in Kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen NMIXX – Crescendo. I’ve played this a number of times and am still enjoying the quality and arrangement of the vocals and the delightful quirkiness provided by the pauses and instrumental. Oddly enough, I don’t hear a big crescendo here. I don’t know enough about western pop to understand where NMIXX fit into the larger pop music landscape,...

#KpopMonday #WorkHard EXO-CBX -- Hey Mama! https://youtu.be/AOzVyVv1HtQ?si=p30xrGYJqO56O3zK Thank you @Erzbet for organizing this weekly fun. I hope you don't think I'm trying to undermine the theme by posting an MV which is all about a revolt against endless toil. I absolutely love the discoish funky guitar sound here; in fact this is a favourite boy group track of mine. #Kpop #EXO #EXOCBX #HeyMama

One of the many things I love about the MV is the reversal it works on our usual feelings about bureaucracy and form filling. Instead of facilitating a rationalizing process that sucks the magic out of our lives, the beautiful office workers...

Kevin Warsh is Trump's Sock Puppet https://youtu.be/T_amEPmvfNE?si=3Fz6wxXQyPdLjubg There is a whole debate to be had about the political economy of "independent" and "technocratic" central bankers, but in the meantime let us note that Krugman is probably correct in his prediction that Kevin Warsh will be Trump's obedient servant at the Fed. #USEconomy #FederalReserve #KevinWarsh #PaulKrugman #DonaldTrump #USPolitics
