Honestly, I don't think we should be trying to normalize "here, scan this QR code — that some rando could have fucked with — to complete a financial transaction". Seems kinda "recipe for disaster" adjacent. I mean, that kind of normalization seems like doing to smart phone users what can be done with creditcard skimmers at gasoline pumps (and other not-well-monitored point-of-sale systems).

@ferricoxide@blahaj.zone It's a HW device (barcode scanner) of given store passing information to other device (cashier desk), so I don't see it as a threat vector. Plus ... honestly ... things like NFC-scan-proof wallets are just a snake oil costing more $$$ than what they actually save. For example: QR code payments are the norm in Czechia and Switzerland. While some kids can tamper with things, it's more of a myth than real threat.
