There are so many talented craftsmen, artists, artisans, mechanics, and people of all trades in India. I remember decades ago when I visited, and having grown up in the U.S., seeing them using more rudimentary tools and instruments, I thought they couldn't possibly achieve the same quality as those with better tools and instruments. I was in for an awakening. They improvised ingenious methods and often surpassed the quality of what I saw in the West. That was a long time ago.

Chilling this evening with the music of Karsh and his collective. Makes me happy to see musicians who enjoy getting together to create music. #KarshKale

Watching the 1962 Telugu movie "Gundamma Katha," a comedy-drama, featuring the popular Telugu actor, N. T. Rama Rao (NTR), who later became the Chief Minister of the state of Andhra Pradesh. His son-in-law, N. Chandrababu Naidu, seen as a competent policy wonk but maybe of questionable political acumen, is the current C. M. of the state.

Working on a GFI outlet at my mom's and I thought my multimeter needed a new battery. Me: Do you have a 9V battery? Mom: I don't know. I may have one. [pulls out a ziploc bags with about dozen or more batteries which have been thrown in haphazardly]. Me: Uggh! Throw them all out.

I'm about one fourth of the way through the Japanese morning drama series, Soar High, watching one or two of the 15 min episodes each day. At first I thought it might be boring, but it turned out to be nice to watch a well-made, slow-paced series that is calming. No foul language, shouting, violence, or pathological behaviour by the characters who are mostly soft spoken.

This should be the quote of the year: "I don't know if you've ever been in a urinal and wore sandals, you sometimes feel those droplets. They could be yours, they might be your neighbor's. Well, the idea was to stop that completely." --Tadd Truscott, fluid dynamicist, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia. #IgNobel https://www.npr.org/2026/09/03/nx-s1-5950370/ig-nobel-awards-kissing-urinals-move-switzerland
