computer is losing power and then coming back to life after literally ~1second. this happened twice within 30 minutes yesterday. so i stopped using the computer for the day, hoping it would go away. it happened twice within 30 minutes again today. so i'm suspecting this was not a short term thing. other stuff in my house doesn't seem to be affected, but this has happened before, rarely, as a fluke. one off, non-recurring, and we've had various other electrical issues. so just becau...

https://danluu.com/web-bloat/When I was at Google, someone told me a story about a time that “they” completed a big optimization push only to find that measured page load times increased. When they dug into the data, they found that the reason load times had increased was that they got a lot more traffic from Africa after doing the optimizations. The team’s product went from being unusable for people with slow connections to usable, which caused so many users with slow connections to start using...

this is my single longest note. despite bumping the character limit up to the highest that my server software will physically let me (because it's my computer! let me publish whatever i want!), my most recent edit marks the first time i've ever seen Sharkey warn me that i'm getting close to the character limit. in fact, i even exceeded the limit and had to cut out a sentence. never had that happen before on this instance. https://lwn.net/Articles/1078707/i largely agree with the points raised in this thread that "sexual content is unsuitable for work". but i strongly disagree that merely a mention of the word sex (gay or otherwise) with no further context or specific innuendos constitutes "sexual content". my silly domain name is not unsuitable for a workplace in any way, shape, or form. the name doesn't matter. it's arbitrary. getting grossed out by the "sex" in my domain na...

Maybe i should try Chaturbate? surely there's a gaming niche on thereokay so i checked and turns out Yes there is gaming content but it's not really niche. it's mostly "one-handed games" or buttplug.io mods or such. perhaps i should've wished for something more precise. like "wholesome, family-friendly gaming content". which does Not exist on there. or at least, not of anyone who's live at the moment. :( RE: https://gaysex.cloud/notes/aoi2sf5xp65j03t2

for Matrix calls, i'm allegedly supposed to set up this software called LiveKit that every instance needs to have, i guess? but. uh. their website is plastered all over with "AI", and "agents". literally first sentence on https://livekit.io describes itself as "An open source framework and developer platform for building, testing, deploying, scaling, and observing agents in production.". for fuck's sake, the source link in the corner goes primarily to the A...

We all love being leashed, right? But honestly, why are collars so popular? There are plenty of other good options: notably, to match a pet you could also get a harness - either the thong-like ones, or one that resembles a corset. That would be kinda pretty, no? But you could also just like, attach a leash to a carabiner on a belt loop, right? A belt is like a collar. But you wanna be able to take off your clothes, I guess. A corset-like harness is no good if you wanna be leashed up while showin...

game like superliminal that's perspective oriented and changing your perception changes reality but the mechanic is entirely unintuitive and it takes place in non-euclidean space, perhaps a hyperbolic space. like hyperbolica. and the perspective is super confusing. subliminal. wait that's already a word. scratch this

I think that writing games in real programming languages like Rust should be illegal. we must mandate every game be written in sloppy languages like JavaScript and C#. we need exceptions to be implicit and everything is nullable. the possibility of type confusion is desirable. weird bullshit cryptic bugs are part of the peak gaming experience. we need stuff to break randomly, for no good reason, in exploitable ways. both to entertain casual players, fascinate hardcore technical players, and keep...
