Guy on the train drinking coffee. From a regular ceramic coffee cup. No thermos. What?

I have a backpack I really like but the straps keep slipping down. I think the sliding buckle thing is just not appropriate material. It's metal. How can I fix this? I can't replace the buckle because of the backpack's construction and my lack of skill. How can I hold the strap in place?

Deutschland hat mehrere Rechtschreibungsreformen gehabt, um die Regeln von ß zu einfachen. Erklär mir dann... Warum schreibt man "ich schließe ... ab" aber auch "ich schloss ... ab"?

I own a designer hoodie. Not a famous brand, but made by a rather pretentious German designer. The hoodie seemed overly expensive, but it looked good on me and the fabric was good quality. That convinced me to buy it. The designer was so hyped about his invention of an additional pocket in the back of the hoodie. It seemed ridiculous. I thought it might also be unreliable. But honestly I've been shoving my phone in there all day and I absolutely love it.

I mostly hear European people saying "Canada is going to join the EU!" No, they were offered to join as a limited member, and I kind of expect Carney will decline today. While Canada seeks much more international cooperation and trade, their rhetoric against the US focuses a lot on independence, and tying Canada too closely to the EU doesn't quite fit that narrative. The EU is great, but the USA was great too, and it turned bad so quickly that Canada is too traumatized...

Somebody told me that the US government renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America, and I didn't believe it because it's the most stupid, insensitive, and meaningless thing you could do. But it's real. And Google is happy to just capitulate and plop it in there.

Just saw some Bored Apes for sale on a T-shirt for kids. Different brand name now. Extremely fungible.

In Europe, like the rest of the world, you can get generic Aspirin for much cheaper than name-brand. But you have to specify the chemical name, acetylsalicylic acid. In German: Acetylsalicylsäure. But that's too hard to say, so everyone uses the acronym ASS. And it's over the counter only. So you go to your drugstore and your gotta say "hey man, I need some ass tablets." And that's why everyone buys name-brand Aspirin instead.

How does the energy share of a typical person's use of an AI datacenter compare against the energy use of melting down the glass bottles filled with 3 euro wine that they drank to produce more glass bottles to fill with 3 euro wine?

My phone is as powerful as like thousands of Apollo computers that brought astronauts to the moon but I can't set more than one egg timer at a time because of something called User Experience.
