I mostly hear European people saying "Canada is going to join the EU!" No, they were offered to join as a limited member, and I kind of expect Carney will decline today. While Canada seeks much more international cooperation and trade, their rhetoric against the US focuses a lot on independence, and tying Canada too closely to the EU doesn't quite fit that narrative. The EU is great, but the USA was great too, and it turned bad so quickly that Canada is too traumatized to date other countries so quickly. I could be wrong, but don't get overly invested is all I'm saying.
