Everyone here: “Only vibe code apps for yourself. You don’t ever want to release them to other users. That would be irresponsible.” And then the most followed and boosted posts are as vibe as vibe gets and everyone: “Hells yeah that looks awesome! Where’s the TestFlight?” I guess it just depends on who’s doing the vibe coding. Or the fact that you don’t say you’re doing it.

As the number of apps approaches infinity the number of users for each approaches zero (or one as there’s always the developer). Future is about personal apps. We all have our own.

Saw one of the three last concerts Eppu Normaali here in Tampere. They really were just amazing live as everyone has told me. (this band is regarded as one of the all time greats of Finnish rock music - a main staple of any karaoke bar) 🎸

Oh don’t mind me. I’m just rendering vector tiles on Apple Watch and downloading map regions for offline use.

Since AI is so stupid and only produces slop I’ve decided not to share any of the Swift frameworks I built with it over the summer. You’re welcome.

Over the summer I built a vector tile rendering pipeline to my topo map app Maptrails. I can pretty confidently say it’s the best and most accurate map there is for Finland right now. The update is available today.

I notice that now, by using AI for most of my app development, I spent much less time in front of my computer. Shorter stints here and there instead of sitting hours on end implementing some new feature. These days I don’t touch my desktop computer almost at all. I’ve had much more time for other hobbies, and taking a proper habit of hitting the gym several times a week. 🏋️

Here’s WiiM iOS app sending out a list of all devices in your local network. Including IPs, names and exact models.

RE: https://wandering.shop/@cstross/116860752476719057 My first computer was a Psion and I learned programming by writing applications for it. To me this is the greatest computer manufacturer of all time. They really invented so much of what we take for granted today.

Our fishing spot today was just a little over 800 meters from the Finland - Russia border. No luck catching salmon this time 🎣

Proxygen 5.1 is now available with MCP support. It’s not just programmatic access to the app’s model layer. Whatever the agent does via MCP tools is visible in the app UI for you to review and continue from. I’m still wrapping my head around what I’ll use this for but it definitely changes what the app is, in a profound way. Download at https://proxygen.app #appdev #infosec #mcp

Proxygen v5.0 is now available for Mac and iOS. It is the biggest update yet, including: - New Test tool with scripting, test assertions and variable extraction. - Environment variables that are extracted from responses and inserted using {{var}} syntax. - Sitemap for quick filtering of message history. The app now also has a lower price point and is 50% off for a limited time. We are just getting started. https://proxygen.app #swiftlang #appkit #macdev #iosdev

Proxygen v4.5.0 now comes with scripting support in Mac and iOS apps. Write JavaScript code to modify HTTP traffic. It’s pretty great! Get the app 50% off for a limited time at https://proxygen.app (the website also got a refresh)

Proxygen for iOS v4.5 comes with a completely new tunneling engine that ensures no traffic leaves your device without the proxy seeing it. There’s a custom TCP/IP stack and a traffic classifier. It also shows SSE events in Sockets message history and allows DNS server override. It’s a one-time $10 purchase. No subscription ✌️ https://apps.apple.com/fi/app/proxygen/id1602229284

Improved the diff output a little bit for upcoming Proxygen update. Added options for line wrapping and a unified view. The highlighting is now closer to what you see in other tools.

Really happy with how the new Diff tool turned out. The simplified controls work better together and it’s much easier to read the diffs now. You can even drag and drop files right into the tool.

I wonder what a diffable data source NSOutlineView would look like 🤔

After having listened to room corrected music upstairs all winter, listening music without correction downstairs just sounds wrong. There’s no way around it.

My near eyesight is not what it used to be just some years ago. I can read but I really need to work my eyes to do it. I’m gonna need reading glasses 👓 I’m getting old.

@jaanus@iosdev.space But if you’re always reading posts from the past won’t you just see the same fake posts before the corrections? People don’t generally update their posts.

@thias@mastodon.social @provuejim@techhub.social This is quite one-sided take on app development. I’d think Apple (like any platform owner would) has always preferred developers make apps that “are invisible”, use their native components (whatever is de jour that year) and don’t surprise (or delight) the user in any way. We as indie developers know better. It is exactly the fun, playfulness and innovation that drives users to come to our app. This makes our apps stand out even when the winds ch...
