Welp. Is our lense ruined? Never mind the dust, there seems to be some cable loose inside the lense. It moves around and casts a shadow on the image. Nikkor 18-200mm VR DX. #Nikon #Photography

RE: https://masto.ahlcode.fi/@nicd/117275722193510215 It didn't go like it does in Strömsö. The old ISP jumped the gun and disconnected us several hours early. The new ISP says "unfortunately you are disconnected" and of course the customer service isn't open. Need to call them tomorrow. Meanwhile the connection does actually work, but at around 2M instead of the ordered 1000M. So I'm asking the fediverse to please post slower for the time being. Thank you for your coöper...

This instance will go down today due to me changing ISPs. Having two fibres is a luxury that allows for getting eternal discount prices at the cost of changing ISP every year or so. (One fibre was already there, one was offered at a cost of 0 € for installation, it was a no-brainer. I haven't gotten a third one yet though. :D)

I'm now self-hosting on this box: - Mastodon - Navidrome (music streaming) - TheLounge (IRC) - Immich (photo gallery) - Forgejo (code forge) - Valheim dedicated server - https://estimated-done.ahlcode.fi (planning poker) - https://git.ahlcode.fi/nicd/hanuri (solar / home energy monitoring) I wrote a blog post on how I set up new apps, mainly as a reminder for myself: https://blog.nytsoi.net/2026/08/11/docker-setup/ #SelfHosting

There's a music festival nearby this weekend. A local resident has complained about it to the European Court of Human Rights, so I reckon it might be a tad loud.

@adam@toots.adamu.jp Not so sure it's that hot of a take, at least in my circles. I've heard more warnings about JWT use than JWT use itself, but I guess that just speaks to the extent of the problem. https://gist.github.com/samsch/0d1f3d3b4745d778f78b230cf6061452

I wonder, if you make a post and retroactively edit it to add hashtags, will it propagate through those hashtags or will they be ignored? Like retroactively added pings are in most IM systems. #Mastodon #FediHelp

RE: https://masto.ahlcode.fi/@nicd/116997064210548890 Finnish Kempower EV chargers have unexpected tie-ins to a certain popular sci-fi series. I am unaware of the reason for the cameo appearance. 😅

Not exactly CarryShitOlympics, but I had fun positioning e.g. my fake-crocs on the back of my bike while on our trip this summer. Having the mug hanging off the side of the pannier meant it was hitting the plastic parts and sounded like a cow bell every time I hit uneven terrain. #BikeTooter

Feels strange to see LLM powered projects pop up even in niche languages. You're searching for a library and you see one with an amazing stylized landing page and docs, which used to be reserved for actual big projects. Now you can't tell if it's a popular one or something the author one-shot and will then throw away except maybe from the download count. Of course, being FLOSS, it's their prerogative. I'm not a paying customer. But it feels strange. Even unreleased packages...

I'd like to love PWA's as they're very convenient and don't require me to install new apps that spy on me in different ways... but a new Vivaldi update has just vanished them and I think this is probably the third time this has happened on my phone. :/

It's warm out here. Not my best work but it did the job. Was able to use it for maybe 20 minutes for fanning in cooler air in between people smoking on their balconies. :| #CarryShitOlympics
