@azaleah@social.lol I’m working through some significantly elevated traffic issues; it kind of resembles a DDoS but not quite, though I’m still trying to mitigate. I think things are a bit more stable at this point but I’m putting some things into place that should keep them that way. Thanks for your patience!

It’s the last day of September, and the Robb × omg.lol St. Jude fundraiser is coming to an end. It’s been an amazing month, with us raising $7,900 to fight childhood cancer and support kids and families affected by it. It’s still not too late to give! 👉 https://stjude.omg.lol 🎗️

@roddie@roddie.social No special technology here! We’ve been working on spreading awareness about the importance of using alt text, and I think it’s helped. The number fluctuates a lot but I was super happy to see it at 100%! @AltTextHealthCheck@mastodon.social

RE: https://social.lol/@neatnik/117344605742521400 Mastodon cross-posting is now fully-supported in https://some.pics! I tried to make everything as simple as possible, but I'd love any feedback you might have on the setup. To get started, click the new "Manage Mastodon cross-posting" button on your Pics dashboard page in omg.lol. Authorize the connection to the Mastodon-compatible instance of your choice, and then configure your preferences. You can opt to automatically post all...

We're just a couple more hours away from being able to cross-post from some.pics to Mastodon, in case you were looking to get away from Pixelfed's AI stuff. Edit: it’s live now! https://social.lol/@neatnik/117344619906643755

Seeing the Unstory stuff unravel today made me realize that far too many bloggers ignore the prime directive of the internet: don't feed the trolls. Having a blog with a clean design and witty writing doesn't make someone worth reading or engaging. And if they're anonymous, and mainly post ragebait? Do yourself and everyone else a favor by closing the tab and forgetting about them.

It's the final weekend for the St. Jude fundraiser that @robb@social.lol and I have been running this month! We've raised nearly $7,700 so far, and the omg.lol 50% donations have topped $1,200 so far. I've opened up 10 more friendship bracelet slots on https://stjude.omg.lol, and there's a new style available: monochrome! At the end of our fundraiser I'll reach out to all bracelet-level donors to find out which style you'd like (colorful or monochrome).

I worry that some people aren’t taking Omarchy seriously enough. It’s not just another Linux distro. It’s a well-orchestrated campaign to centralize power and influence within the Linux FOSS ecosystem. And it’s working. Anyone paying attention to DHH and what he stands for can see what’s going on here. When the guy who thinks that brown people don’t belong in society hires the guy who thinks trans people shouldn’t exist, you can see where this is going.

@manton I don't recall anyone asking you to fire Vincent. People did want to see some acknowledgement from you that what he did was wrong, though, and you flatly refused to provide that. - https://micro.blog/krisbrowne/55840123 - https://micro.blog/Havn/55818308 - https://micro.blog/danhallock@me.dm/55809206 - https://micro.blog/andrew@thestopbutton.social/55807866 Vincent is incredibly talented, but he can't stop doing and saying bigoted things. At a time when people are increasingly...

"not Polish" 🤔 "foul rap music" 🤔 This is Vincent Ritter, who in addition to these thinly-veiled racist remarks also once posted "When a game asks for 'pronouns' and doesn’t let you skip that part. Uninstall. Sigh." And posted about how sad he was to see the heteronormative Apple emoji being replaced by inclusive, genderless versions. He pays for a blue checkmark on X, cheers for Elon, and is a member of the Micro.blog team. If you use Tinylytics or Scrib...

Earlier today, the chief protocol guy at Bluesky wrote something nice about omg.lol. https://bsky.app/profile/bnewbold.net/post/3muzgzcgzyc2l Then Manton Reece showed up to complain about "the owner's long-running personal attacks on me." I guess he couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a swing. I spun up a Bluesky account to respond, and swapped a few replies with Manton. He responded to everything I said with "that didn't happen" or "that's a total...

Elon Musk owns X. Solely. There is no board of directors; there is no higher governance structure. X *is* Elon Musk. When you "return to X", you're supporting Elon Musk, full stop. There's no way around it. When you post there, you're contributing to him. Directly. So if you're not going into this with your eyes open, you're fooling yourself. But if you *are* going into it with your eyes open, you are the problem.
