Watched The End of Oak Street. A premise so promising you spend the first twenty minutes stressed that the film won’t live up to it. Didn’t have to worry, hands down the second best dino film ever made. Very hashtag Amblin hashtag prehistoric hashtag Jumanji, I will be watching this many many times https://letterboxd.com/mknepprath/film/the-end-of-oak-street/?i=flletterboxd-review-1449366522

Watched Stage Fright. A twisty, cozy detective noir. Loved the father character. Imagine falling asleep while still holding your accordion. Couldn’t be me https://letterboxd.com/mknepprath/film/stage-fright/?i=flletterboxd-review-1457620121

Watched The Samurai and the Prisoner. A story of benevolent self-sabotage and a repudiation of the warrior code, “advance to paradise, retreat to hell,” in the form of slow, episodic mysteries punctuated by visits to the titular prisoner. Feels Shakespearean, or at least literary, in the same way classic Kurosawa films feel; especially Throne of Blood. Would love to see this again in black and white. https://letterboxd.com/mknepprath/film/the-samurai-and-the-prisoner/?i=flletterboxd-review-14632...

Watched Rebecca. Wasn’t sure I liked where this was heading, but then it redeems itself in the final five minutes or so. I went into this not knowing Hitchcock won Best Picture, let alone so early in his career. https://letterboxd.com/mknepprath/film/rebecca/?i=flletterboxd-review-1463979935
