Watched The Samurai and the Prisoner. A story of benevolent self-sabotage and a repudiation of the warrior code, “advance to paradise, retreat to hell,” in the form of slow, episodic mysteries punctuated by visits to the titular prisoner. Feels Shakespearean, or at least literary, in the same way classic Kurosawa films feel; especially Throne of Blood.
