Going all nostalgic here. I left Latin America 20 years ago. This song was in a casette tape exchanged during my college years. Buena Vista Social Club - Veinte Años https://youtu.be/d2vBh6_h7WE #AWiderWorld #JukeboxFridayNight

A late entry for #JukeboxFridayNight with a #PersonalPlaylist. The first holidays I spent away from my family I was really sad. I had recently moved to the US for grad school and I could not travel home as I had upcoming field work. An old friend sent me by snail mail Beirut's album "The Flying Club Cub". My landlady gave me a tiny Christmas tree to put in my tiny apartment. My mom sent by international mail some gifts. I listened a lot to this album and those moments were the...

@Crumbee@beige.party has family in Spokane, in the area that's burning. Fortunately, as of now, they have evacuated safely with one of their pets. The other one wouldn't go. Cherished belongings were left home. I.. I don't have much words left. There was a time I used to do research tangential to planetary and climate science. There was much talking about risks and trends and twenty years in the future. And mitigation and things everyday people could do and .. and I don't thi...

Just in case it helps anyone, the Washington Trails Association trail map has an overlay option where you can see the air quality and wildfires along with the trails' location. It helps with choosing places to hike without exposure to unnecessary risk. It's sobering, but helpful. https://www.wta.org/go-outside/map #pnw #WAwx #hiking

Out of curiosity I let some of my carrots bloom. I had planted them too late last year, so there was not much carrot to start with. I'm glad I did this. The flowers are loved by so many insects. I've seen bees of many types, bee-flies, flies, wasps and tiny beetles. The flowers last a long time and give out a sweet fragrance, which is very appreciated by Little Kid. I love how gardening sometimes goes like that. You make a mistake, but then is not a mistake, it just turns into somethi...

Fixing the area under the garage steps was our "Saturday afternoon project" (it's Sunday evening and we're at.. 50% of the project 😆). @Crumbee has put most of the effort. I'm doing painting and fretting about the kids stomping over the plants in the area we're fixing. https://beige.party/@Crumbee/116514362182424044

#WaterfallWednesday This is an urban waterfall that collects street runoff water in Everett and diverts it to a wetland where the water can slow down and get filtered before entering the Snohomish River. I took this picture shortly after a heavy downpour. The waterfall structure is part of a pedestrian bridge over the railroad. #pnw #UrbanRunoff

The circled tag refers to the zucchini I just planted. I have not decided if it's wise or foolish. Either way, wish me luck. #gardening #zucchini

I know, I know, there is a million pictures of this sign already, but I was feeling very touristy today. Plus the letter P has a seagull. I went to the spice store and got some favorite herbal tea, which I'm about to enjoy. #Seattle #BirdsOnSigns

As seen in the wild, this was too funny not to share. Will add alt-text in a bit, there's a lot going on 😆 Edit 1: alt-text added. Disclaimer: I know nothing of 3D printing. Address all questions and comments on that topic to @Crumbee Edit 2: this is the way. This is how you #BuildCommunity #Seattle #3dprinting

From our trip to the Seattle Asian Art Museum, I was also absolutely fascinated by the current exhibit by Anila Quayyum Agha, a Pakistani American artist. She uses laser-cut geometrical shapes and light. It's incredible. In a stereotypical parenting moment, after the kids spent easily 15 min in that one pottery exhibit, they did not want to spend any time in this one beyond saying "oh wow" and moving along. I barely had time to take this picture (we were with another family and t...
