i guess the reason they don't call the new iphone the iphone 2026 pro or whatever is because that would really obviously tip their hand that they engineer planned obsolescence, just like how car manufacturers d- wait a minute

i do still think social media should have a Mea Culpa button where you can hit it and provide a reason you were wrong and then the entire thread is locked with your displayed reason. not because i'm ever wrong, i'm not, but for other people

Looking for some horror movies to watch this October? Some friends of mine put together a marathon throughout the month named after the cult film Ghostwatch, and I've been given the great honor of putting together the trailer watch party for this year! Even if you're not in the crew, you might enjoy seeing a slew of weird horror films showcased in one place! https://homoplaza.tv/w/773zjM4fR8i5JRGjMW4Z1j #Horror #HorrorMovies #Ghostwatch #TrailerParty

I do actually think people who have nothing to do with developing KDE, one of the four largest desktop environments in the entire world, should in fact be allowed to demand complete restriction of AI in KDE's development.

its crazy how even when you find what looks like well-meaning decentralized web folks you just have to scratch a little bit through the paint to reveal a cryptobro or ai shill underneath

really getting sick of this shit where i describe step by step what my problem is, and somebody responds "i don't see that problem in [unrelated system], could you tell me if you mean [literally the system i described]?"

50% of the time when i watch a modern horror trailer the big spooky reveal is like a monster with dumb bulging eyes or some shit and nobody can act worth a damn. i don't blame my friends who are haters for modern horror.

so much of modern anticheat is all to prevent like (scared gamer voice) "what if somebody gets the really cool vault weapon without earning it??" and my honest really sincere answer is i hope they enjoy it because this is a toy for adults and not something consequentially real

starting the recent audiobook version of Pale Blue Dot. oh this is a restoration of an out-of-print version of the book, with Sagan's wife narrating the missing and degraded pieces, with her forewarning that she's going to get emotional hearing her late husband's voice again? uh oh gonna cry!

My wife is a software developer with over ten years experience in object oriented programming and a focus on C# (and Mono). She needs remote work in the USA and has a resume including finance and game dev. If anybody knows any openings for a software generalist with a long track of experience, keen on doing good work as a player on a team (not gunning for leadership atm!) gimme a shout! #FediHire #softwaredeveloper #getfedihired #Csharp #jobs #remoteWork

i can't exactly blame them for getting that bag but it is always a little sad to me when a cool or interesting indie animator or filmmaker on youtube gives up and just starts doing video essays instead. i've seen it a lot in the analog horror world lately.
