I don't want to "talk" to my browser. I don't want my browser to "summarize" things. I don't want my browser to "help" me with things. I don't want my browser to do anything except show me web pages and shut the fuck up and get out of the way.

A private company created a massive network of spy cameras across the country, which cops mostly use to stalk their ex-girlfriends. This dystopia brought to you in part by America's unhinged reaction to 9/11.

The entirety of transphobia from crude jokes to direct violence is a systematic attempt to scare trans people into hiding and to eliminate the ones who persist. This idea that there is an acceptable level of transphobia, that "common sense" restrictions need to be made, and the liberal cope that once these bans are enacted, it will stop there and no further, is just cis people refusing to remove the noose from around our necks.

If you're over 40, you've seen every move in US politics a hundred times before. Trump isn't even that new. He's just more blatant. He does all the questionable things out in the open and he does them all at the same time instead of spacing them out.

If a cis woman goes out in a t-shirt and shorts and no makeup, she gets called "miss" and "ma'am" and "she" and "her," even when she's somewhat androgynous or masculine looking. For that matter, nobody has a problem with a butch woman's pronouns 99% of the time and that 1% used to get laughed off before people started "guarding" toilets. Trans women are owed at least as much courtesy and/or apathy. It's not hard. Oftentimes,...

A lot of people seem to think that because trans people had nothing not that long ago that we'll be happy with nothing now. And first of all, we didn't have nothing. Until you freaks went on the warpath, our healthcare was relatively safe and secure. We had a generation of trans kids who got to live whole lives. That was a big fucking deal. That's all been taken away from us. We can't even pee in safety anymore. And you don't care.

"Anti-intellectualism is going to kill us all. Trusting experts isn't authoritarian. It's actually the opposite of authoritarianism. Authoritarianism is when the government does whatever the fuck it wants regardless of what the data shows just because it can." Right-wingers hate expertise for the same reason they used to hate government: it doesn't coddle their ignorance and their bigotries. https://bsky.app/profile/leftistlawyer.com/post/3muzezflmfo2h

White nationalists are always allowed to "protest" without being arrested or called terrorists and that's how you know which side the government is on.

This is little practical difference between a cis girl who is raised to hate herself because she is told she is evil, sinful, inferior, and ultimately useful only for sex and procreation and a trans girl who is raised to hate herself because she is told she is wrong, sick, mentally ill, unlovable, and ultimately useful for nothing. The religious and misogynistic attacks on their self are very similar.

I think Milo represents a defunct phase of the American fascist project. All that provocative "debate" shit and the appearance of "diversity," as if a gay white supremacist with frosted hair signified anything different than his bosses. But under Stephen Miller's auspices, Trumpism is evolving into something more militant, more raw and brutal, with ICE at the forefront. Milo ending up in ICE custody really says it all. They're done talking to the rest of us. They don...

"'Abolish ICE' and 'defund police' are bad slogans!" The same was said about "mass deportations now" but Republicans did it anyway, they're doing it now, and you don't seem terribly concerned with stopping them.

My brother used to make fun of me for being a picky eater because I wouldn't, I dunno, eat cold hot dogs wrapped in American cheese slices, but he wouldn't touch half the foods I eat on a regular basis. He wouldn't even have pho. 🙄

Way back during the 2020 Democratic primary, I said that if a Democrat did win the election, they would have to prioritize prosecuting Trump and his allies and dismantling the shadow power structures driving the fascist movement. I also said Biden was worthless because he would never do that; he would be a presidential seat warmer. We would have four years of relative quiet and then back to Trump. Or worse. And I was right. And it's still true.

Pro-Israel Democrats need to get it through their heads that theirs is the fringe extremist view. It's over. It's not going away, everyone knows they sold out, and no one believes their bullshit anymore. They can suck up to AIPAC or they can win elections.

If the world worked the same for rich people as it does the poor, we would deduct the cost of all this fraud, corruption, fossil fuel profits and subsidies, military adventurism, police state bullshit, and other crimes against the country and humanity from the net worth of those responsible, and if they couldn't pay, they would go to prison basically forever.

"AC just pumps the heat outside!" Yes, that's the entire point. "But won't that make things worse?!" No? Look, if it's already hot outside, it doesn't fucking matter. The heat from your AC unit is negligible. If you live in the city, the amount of concrete causes more of a heat island effect than AC does.

One of the surreal things about growing up was seeing people who agreed with me our culture was trash and the earth was dying just -- getting over it? -- once they got their job, their house, their career, their whatever. And then it was like it never happened.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, it seemed pretty obvious the people who wanted to hurt us would eventually exhaust either the public's sense of horror or the media's sense of honor in reporting on it, to the point open eugenics and genocide would cease to be scandalous. What I didn't realize, but should have, was that people would let it happen out of apathy and their sense of entitlement, their desire to be served and waited on, and the continuity of a banal, already harmful "...
