Not especially relevant to my current job but... one of the things that bugs me most about my career? The way i've repeatedly earned the reputation in a company for being able to hunt down, puzzle out, and fix the 'weird problems'. Which is great! I AM good at it. it's an important skill to have an an asset to any tech company that want to stick around. The problem is that it's a skill that means you often work in isolation, and no one understands what it...

We've built this thing. I think it's pretty neet. But we've got no clue who else would think so, to share it with. It's a little gizmo that connects to your network, and lets you send and record IR signal using a REST API. So you can record the functions of your TV or amp remote, save them in a file, and then activate them from any device that send an HTTP request, which is basically everything these days. I've set up my Elgato Streamdeck to assign http re...

I found the clipped comment on an old phone a little bit ago. No clue where it's from or who it's to, but it's been living rent free in my head ever since, soooo time to make art with it! #furry #furryart

@fixatedpersonsunit you can sorta block out a bunch of modern ads by using a polarised filter on a pair of glasses. https://www.vice.com/en/article/xw337w/these-screen-blocking-glasses-are-ad-blockers-for-real-life Buuuuut now im wondering if we could do something more active. Like a camera mounted to a HMD that you can see through, like the XReal Air. You could set some image processing machine learning system to detect ads and logos and have it output a white box in the appropriate part of th...

Progress! Now we can controll our Minidisc player over the network, and name tacks soooo much more easily! We can pass it a whole playlist and have this gizmo enter the name automatically :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Omr9umnevVU

New version of our network controlled IR automation thingie. The nice and tidy pre built IR emitter wasn't nearly powerful enough for me needs, soooooooo we built a better one! And added a little screen to check network connectivity and IP address and stuff. Does mean I'm going to need to do more soldering in the near future.

Stuff we've done today: - Fixed our old Monster Hunter themed 3DS - Fixed our old PS Vita - Fixed an old Minidisc player we got off eBay; in Japanese. - Worked on our universal Linux based IR remote. - Sorted out some tax paperwork - Walked Rauði - Worked fulltime job. - Wondered why we're so damned tired!?

WIP! trying out a simplified-ish, anime-like, style and new workflow to see how viable this visual novel idea is. Figuring out that whole breaking out differnt character parts into easily interchangable cels to reduce the workload XD

The blaster project progresses! We got it switching the Mini disc player on and off now, soooooo we should have the Sony encoded signals sorted out. Which means we should be able to automate the rest of the functions on the player :D
