Inca Kola: The Golden Kola. The choice of golden shower professionals. No, wait. That wasn't the slogan. Anyway, I spotted Inca Kola in a 0.355l can, I think I tried this earlier this year because the candy-like taste is very distinct. Seems to taste about the same as from the glass bottle and I'm very fond of this stuff. One of the weirder takes on colas. #soda

I've had pinball leg mounted drink holders since early 2000s, although those were pretty crude DIYs back when consumer 3D printing wasn't a thing. My very first take was just a piece of steel bent into a shape on L with holes for the leg bolts and then a ring big enough for a soda bottle welded onto that. As my collection grew, somewhere in early 2010s the Pingulp was released. Not that it was an unique idea even then, but it was a good product. I own around 30 of those. At that point I...

Opened a new brand spool of clear PETG and I'm tuning the settings to make it more clear. This one (Sunlu Clear) doesn't like to operate at its top rated temperatures but lower ones seem fine, except it can't take faster speeds. So cold and slow it is. 260 and 240 celcius examples. #3dprinting #filament

Apparently the weekend's trip still keeps on giving. My bank Nordea decided to block my card because it had "suspicious activity from abroad". Which was taxi charges from all the moving around we did in Belfast. It's such a shit system where they can just decide "LOL, no more card use for you!" and there's no way to unblock it myself. First I had to talk to a fucking piece of shit chat bot that jerked me around with the FAQ answer stuff until I finally got to tal...

Street Fighter II (Gottlieb, 1992) and its car crush mini playfield. I think it also may have been one of the last ones, if not the last video game based theme on a pinball until Fallout this year. #pinball #streetfighter

Lovely. This hotel seems to be some kind of a Faraday's cage and the mobile data barely works inside. They offer free WiFi, but you have to sign up for their bullshit mailing list for that. Not a problem, I have plenty of send me all your bullshit e-mail addresses just for that, but their signup form fails every time at the point where I try to post it. #rant

After the fun at Base Arcade's popup arcade, we went to a Boundary Taproom for some brewskies and more pinball, because there's no such thing as too much pinball. I finally got to play Stern's Pokemon. The quick first impression was that the playfield was rather simple and the graphics pretty plain. But then I got to grind it and damn, it's actually one of the better releases for a while. I can instantly see the playfield simplicity as a huge bonus for the new audience the theme...

Apparently KLM decided delivering my suitcase where I was flying to was optional, so here I am in Belfast with no clothes other than what I have on, no toiletries, chargers for anything and so forth. Seeing all the angry people at the luggage belt it seems I wasn't the only one. My suitcase has an Airtag in it, at least I know it's in Amsterdam.

What kind of retort is "you must be fun at parties" is supposed to be? Am I supposed to feel completely pwned by it? I was having a conversation about specific NVR HDD brands and a nameless Internet person claims their beloved brand does not use brand X. I tell them they definitely do in some products. They reply that they have been in the business for 5 years and they know that brand is not used. I reply I've been 20 years in business and here's a picture of an opened brand n...

I'm investigating my Bally Star Trek's sound board. It lost sound some time ago and I had hoped it's the typical solder cracks in the big Molex KK connector but nope. Looks like I have to do actual head scratching here. I hear a hum that changes depending what's on the displays, which is normal and tells me that at least the amp works and the speaker is connected. This one is going to at least get recapped before it goes back. #pinball #repair

Another Hello Kitty #soda today, Kuromi. As the previous one I got, this one's made in Sweden under a license. it's grape and blueberry, which is actually a pretty decent combo. Too bad this one has the same problem as the Hello Kitty one: nothing in the taste is real. Again it's apple juice that aromas in it to give it a crude approximation of blueberry and grape, but not a great one. Also artificial sweeteners. I need to get my hands on the Japanese version to see if it's a...

So far I've greased my MK4S' and Mini+'s axis rods with a q-tip, which is a bit annoying as there's always possibility of getting some on the belts in the X-axis. So I made this simple tool. It can do both sides of the rod without making a mess. Just put a tiny amount of grease on both sides of this hook, push it against the rod and move sideways, then pull and do the other side. Takes just seconds compared to messing around with a q-tip. I'll probably make a larger version...

Today we have Chupa chups, but in #soda form. This Korean find tastes pretty much like the lollipop of the same brand. Not a typical soda taste, almost closer to carbonated juice than traditional sodas. A bit weird sensation, but okay. Bonus points for having actual sugar in it and no BS sweeteners.

Looks like today finally became the day when I got around to get rid of my Snapmaker A350's original print sheet and go with the all steel one as I print mostly PETG and likes with it. This was prompted by a print job I had started yesterday, but I came here to see a disaster. The print head had literally grinded itself into the sheet. I scratched my head for a second for what had happened, of this 2 material job one material had printed fine while the other was like 0.5mm lower than it sho...

Cracked solder joints are one big annoyance in pinball. Thanks to the game's mechanical nature, there's a lot of vibrations coming from various mechanisms firing non-stop as the game is played. The outcome is often weird issues. On lamp boards these are easy to diagnose, just wiggle the connector and if the lamps mysteriously return, take the board for a closer look. These days I can spot the issue even without a magnifying glass, just rotate the board under the work light and look at t...

This is Hello Kitty Strawberry Vanilla #soda. One might expect this to come from Japan, but this specific one was made in Sweden under a license. Many years I invented a decent drink on cruise ships: take some strawberry slush, put some vanilla flavored vodka in it and top it up with Sprite. This is very close to that, sans the alcohol. A sad part is that there's no strawberries and vanilla extract in it. It's actually apple juice with some lemon juice mixed in it and the rest is artif...

I ditched the rest 3rd gen Ubiquiti cameras from my arcade installation, which left me with these G3 Flexes. This means my Snapmaker got an upgrade and MK4S finally got its own camera. I've strongly preferred having my printers with the NVR as often having the possibility to rewind back in time is more important than seeing what's going on right now. First the Snapmaker. I quickly modelled the arc-like attachment, which is a simplified version of Ubiquiti original one. This one attache...

Had a huge playfield clean+wax, burn lamp replacement and minor repair session today. Here's about 6 hours of footage in one minute. No major issues were found, just run of the mill loose wires, cold solders in connectors and bad lamp sockets. #pinball #arcade #repair #timelapse

Back to #finland with today's #soda weirdness. This is Pommac, one of the sodas I definitely make foreign visitors taste when they first come to Finland. It has berries and fruits in it, what exactly is a mystery. But so is the taste. It's very often offered as a non-alcoholic alternative to bubbly drinks. It's been around since 50s in Finland, originally introduced in Sweden in the 20s, although the original recipe was by a Finnish-Swede.

@vga256@mastodon.tomodori.net And that's why I have a strong preference on vans; you can load a pin onto one yourself without working too hard and the floor is a lot lower than a pickup's bed. In general vans are a lot more common around here. I was surprised to see that many pickups in the US, especially with people driving around with perishable stuff in the back.
