Degrees can make a person academically accomplished without necessarily making them educated in empathy, consent or human dignity. I keep saying this to people. The Cornell 7 case is shocking to many because we struggle to imagine Ivy League students from 'respected families' as capable of sexual violence. Privilege can shape not only how violence is perpetrated but how readily society recognises it. When privileged men are accused, institutions tend to prioritise their reputation over...

Thanks for the laugh but Newcastle University are you okay? I get the economy isn't doing great but Anant Ambani as a Professor of Practice in Sustainability? Be serious. Ambanis are India’s billionaire family who cosplay as the Sanskari(traditional) Kardashians. No amount of money, power or fame ever seems to be enough. They manufacture their own awards & then hand them to themselves. They own media houses so scrutiny around their sustainability practices rarely gets the attention it de...

Women’s safety in India is a joke until a harassment video goes viral. Then the opposition seizes the opportunity to attack the government, conveniently forgetting they did the same when in power. News channels run the story 24/7, often replaying the same disturbing footage until it crawls under the skin of women across the country, triggering their worst nightmares. Male panelists are invited to discuss women’s safety. Influencers find a way to make it about themselves. And the cycle continues.

There’s no nice way to put this-> Indians driving in India seem incapable of going anywhere without unnecessarily honking. It’s beyond infuriating. And to the men who love mocking women’s driving skills-> did no one teach you that you can drive without announcing your every move to the entire world? Why do people honk while waiting in traffic? Ugh. The Northeast is the only exception I’ve noticed. More patience, more consideration & most importantly, fewer assaults on everyone else’s...

In today’s smash the patriarchy saga: I spoke to my friend’s younger sister(my sister by default) yesterday. She is an intelligent, kind woman, also a dentist with a Master’s in Public Health. Her family is from a conservative North Indian town, where if your daughter isn’t married by 25, neighbours & relatives start asking -> What’s wrong with her? [Sorry it's India, we don't have concept of boundaries.] It doesn’t matter if the girl wants to study, work or build a life of her o...

Gloria Steinem’s death is an occasion to assess her legacy (not turn her into either a saint or a villain). There is plenty to criticise, but dismissing everything she accomplished is just as intellectually lazy. She was genuinely important to 2nd wave feminism. She brought women’s inequality into mainstream political debate, fought for reproductive freedom, workplace equality & the Equal Rights Amendment. But her legacy also represents the limits of mainstream liberal feminism.

Nepal is paying a devastating price for a climate crisis it did little to create. A catastrophic flood triggered by a Himalayan glacier collapse has killed over 160 people(with hundreds still missing). This is the cruelest face of climate change -> the countries with fewer resources to protect themselves are often the ones hit hardest. The question is no longer whether the poorest can afford to adapt. It's whether the rest of the world can afford to keep looking away. #Nepalfloods #Climat...

Currently in India(Delhi) students are facing police brutality in a protest asking for accountability. National Medical Entrance exam paper was leaked, news came after students had already given the exam. It's one of the most competitive exams in India, students work very hard to get a rank, many commit suicide every year due to the pressure of this exam. Education Minister took ZERO accountability, Chief Justice of India called the Youth cockroaches. This is the origin of current protests.
