How's this pixel art? Please guess what sea creature this is so I can find out if I captured it's likeness. It's for my GB Color RPG SeaTropilis. This is the first enemy for the game. And it's my first real game, I've been working on it for a year but not everyday just every now and then. I've spent a lot of time building the intro now I'm up to the battle engine and first level. All feedback is welcome... DL the prototype for free at https...

Hey there retro gamers... If you play a retro game console on a regular basis would you mind letting us know which one? Please visit https://www.retrogame.news/players-hub/ and click the console that you play the most often. It takes less than a minute and it really helps our retro gaming website out. For me it's PS3... Most other retro consoles I've been playing via RetroArch instead of real hardware. What retro console are you playing the most on real hardware?

Why is it impossible to have 3 different colors work in a palette? I have to deal with this issue all the time when trying to colorise my sprites. The colors are applied incorrectly, it always fails to differentiate some colors and no matter what combination I set the color palette to it will not give me the result I want. It is extremely infuriating. I even used the plugin for asperite that is meant to export the sprite sheet specifically for this purpose. What is the solution? Please somebody?

Still learning the art of pushing pixels, this is my latest work. It is a Moorish Idol fish which is used in my GBC underwater RPG SeaTropilis. Check it out on my Itch page https://x-avy.itch.io/ The next battle scene I'll be working on is a Barracuda which is a very difficult fish to illustrate in pixel art as it's a very generic looking fish. But I need a new enemy that is one step above a Moray Eel so it can't be a Shark but it must be something that lives in the Gala...

🎨 New SeaTropilis devlog! One of the biggest challenges developing for the Game Boy Color has been creating detailed battle backgrounds while working around the infamous **4-colours-per-32×32 tile** limitation. I share my process, the compromises I had to make, and show how my Great Barracuda artwork had to be simplified to satisfy the hardware. I'd love to hear how other retro and pixel artists tackle these kinds of limitations. How would you have approached it? https://x-avy.itch.i...
