You could pay to make a hospital in every major city completely free for the cost of medicare and medicaid. Paying money to healthcare providers while acting as an insurer was never the right approach. If the government is going to make anything free, they ought to operate it instead. We could have a system that covers only the most expensive types of care for much cheaper that way.

Immigration reform idea: codify in treaty a one-in-one-out immigration policy per country. Someone wants to move here from Canada? Well they add themselves to a waiting list and they get to move here when someone from the US adds themselves to the waiting list to move to Canada. One in, one out. Populations remain the same in both countries and people get to live where they want.

My Mom has 20 cats. I wish that was a joke, but it's not. It started with two, then became four, then she adopted a litter of kitties claiming she was running an unofficial rescue, then another one, and then several more kittens. There is a litter box in every room. Breathing normally is not an option in this house, but I suspect there is a bit of the boiled frog effect preventing awareness of this fact. I went to visit and came back with a backpack I cannot remove the scent from.

Water heating frogs. Each degree a little death. We know what will come. The terrible knowledge that the water will not cool down. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kGluhVXnd6d-7Jt_Iw_o0RD6kd7DJIpWRLOcoabHV3w/edit?usp=sharing

The Trump administration has done a piss poor job of explaining anything useful. For instance: - Why are we at war with Iran? This shit has been going on for months and I still don't know. - Why are there ducks with trump wigs on them? What does it mean? - Why are we starting beef with our polite neighbors to the north? And Denmark? In the absence of any of this making any sense, I have to assume our president is insane.

When selfie-verification gated, refuse. Let the account die. Platforms need to learn that they will lose their users over this.

There exists a social platform, which I had an account on, used primarily to talk to people and send them funny things. I have lost access today because evidently I am not a real person. My crime was looking at the profile of another user and my sentence was to complete a selfie verification or lose access. I gave this AI an image of my middle finger and proceeded to feed it a series of words that I have yet to find an AI to be ok with, but you know evidently I'm the one that's n...

Curious, but what happens if a citizen of another country: - immigrates here - becomes a citizen - relinquishes citizenship in their original country - then gets their citizenship here taken from them

I'm concerned because I'm anticipating having to do the new recaptcha to access my google account and every single account I own is tied to my gmail. So if I refuse, I lose access to everything? https://reclaimthenet.org/googles-new-recaptcha-wants-your-camera-access-and-21-points-of-your-hand

If you have a "go-to person" at your workplace: don't undervalue them. If you have someone that solves problems, unblocks others, answers questions outside their official responsibilities, and often gets pulled into discussions that aren't even part of their work responsibilities: make sure you recognize their worth. Ideally formally. Far too many organizations wake up one day to a letter of resignation from that person because they did not.
