My first attempt at repairing a large patch of wall. It looks flatter than it feels, but at least it is smooth πŸ˜‚ Before and after photos #DIY

Sitting in my favourite spot, the windowseat in the kitchen. Looking out at this forest of seedlings emerging after the rain. They will be borage , but with white flowers (can’t resist a white flower). And hopefully they will continue to seed prolifically until there is no grass left. 😊 Can’t see the grass getting cut again this year, since all the spring bulbs started pushing their leaves up after it rained. 🀷🏻

When I planted my little rowan tree, I pictured it attracting birds in the winter with its bright berries. Maybe waxwings when it got older. 😍 An enormous woodpigeon has just landed in its precarious young upper branches and is stripping off its not yet ripe berries, whilst waggling about in the wind. πŸ™„

The garden seems very quiet, the background chirping of house sparrows is absent. Every year they do this, leave here for a few weeks at their holiday home. I have no idea where they go to. With any luck they will return in about a month, and I shall enjoy them emptying the seed-feeders throughout the winter. #birds

For everyone who has been following my whines about the complete lack of serious rain here - 2 of the 4 waterbutts are full! I repeat - 2 of the 4 waterbutts are full! As you were πŸ˜‚ β˜”οΈ

How have you been spending your weekend Sarah? Yesterday there were 3 holes in my hall ceiling, & today they have all gone! Then I started stripping wallpaper and it looks a bit messy again now πŸ˜‚ #diy

As part of my tidying up the cables around the indoor of the front door project - I spent some of this afternoon rewiring my doorbell. Now, of course, it refuses to ring πŸ™„. I shall have a cup of tea and then go and buy some new batteries for it. 🀞

Today has been a productive day. Amongst other things, I got the doorbell working again. So now I can make the wire all neat and tidy inside and outside. Hooray!

Some people have been celebrating the arrival of rain finally. And we did have 2 spells of overnight rain here a few nights ago. But the county's rainfall for the month of July was 0.4mm, and so far in August I've had about 3mm. Let's not assume that everywhere is now recovering. It will take a lot more than 3mm for mature trees to start recovering.

I did it - I put magnets on the kickboard and made a place to store a pack of loo rolls, or something else, in my tiny bathroom. #DIY

@Uniflame@beige.party Just in case this helps you ever. With eyedrops - if you close your eyes, tip your head back (or lie down) and drop drops onto both eyes as close to the corners nearest your nose as possible, but dont worry too much, anywhere along your eyelid will work. Then when you're ready open both eyes and blink - you will get 80+% of the eyedrops in your eyes. That's better than a lot of people manage using the "recommended methods".

This morning, whilst swilling out my garden waste wheelie bin, I discovered that I had a young woodpigeon completely hidden in the brambles that are camouflaging the brick pile. I rarely see young woodpigeons - and this might be why. πŸ™‚ #birds

It seems very quiet outside this morning, apart from manmade traffic rumble, a plane and a train. A coal tit is calling now and again, and there is some sparrow chatter, but not much. I’ve only spotted 2 house martins and no swifts. There are no moths in the pond this morning, but plenty in the house. A dragonfly is patrolling the gardens.

Did I? Or did I not? Predict that I would have a tree down soon at the wood because of this drought? ☹️

A hawk moth of some sort has joined me in my bedroom 🀦🏻 It doesnt want to be caught, and is currently hiding then flapping around wildly, then hiding again πŸ™„ I really dont want it to singe itself on my bedside light - the only halogen bulb left in the entire house. Perhaps I'll turn the light off, open the curtains, and hope I dont get more moths coming in than go out.

I think it knows it's on camera πŸ€” Can anyone confirm if this is a youngster or not? #birds #UK
