With a career that has straddled the gaps between DSBM, blackgaze, post-rock, and emo, Damián Ojeda's band Sadness really consistently knows how to write a song that sounds like love feels. midnight june room, from shimmer https://sadnessmusic.bandcamp.com/track/midnight-june-room-2 and that embodies the way that can slip through your fingers Little highlight of my #BandcampFriday haul, full post to follow

I definitely can't afford a Steam Frame, but if anyone has a gently-used Valve Index they'd like to sell me (in the EU, ideally) for development and making-the-Small-Owlbear-happy reasons, please hit me up.

Although I'm not usually very engaged with fan communities, I'm really into Ultima VI: The False Prophet, and the Ultima Dragons collectively working out the origin of this piece of in-game artwork (a somewhat racy painting of a zebrataur) from the game's intro is one of my favourite fandom moments. https://ultimacodex.com/2015/10/remember-that-centaur-poster-in-ultima-6s-intro-i-found-the-sketch-it-was-based-on/

Anyone need a copy of co-op horror game Content Warning on Steam? https://store.steampowered.com/app/2881650/Content_Warning/ I've got a spare key (might have up to four, come to to that, as everyone in my co-op gaming group has one.)

I am going to need security bloggers who clearly understand why the AI-in-everything push is a problem to stop using diffuser-generated images to illustrate their every single fucking article. Go and use woodcuts by 15th century printmaker and all-round pretty boy about town Albrecht Dürer instead if you're running out of ideas. https://picryl.com/collections/albrecht-durer-woodcut-prints https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albrecht_D%C3%BCrer

Until two pairs of Bluetooth headphones can be simultaneously paired with a single audio source, the technology lags behind those stereo splitters that kids in the 80s used to share the output from their Walkman. EDIT: It's been implemented in some of the latest Bluetooth specs! Thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge/research of that. I've dropped some links here: https://eldritch.cafe/@HauntedOwlbear/116562932020469417 And there are more in the replies.

@neil can't install the Carte Vitale dématérialisée (digital social security card for access to state funded healthcare) under the French /e/OS ( @murena ) unless I was prepared to use microG to stand in for Google's app framework.

The public/state school (i.e. not a private Catholic-run one) near me needs a little help in funding a trip to Paris. They don't have the financial benefits of some more privileged institutions, and it's a real opportunity for their pupils to see the capital in ways they might not otherwise have access to. The school and parents are really close with their fundrasing, but they're short the last little bit. Their online fundraiser hasn't had a lot of attention (most people in...

In my hippyish days, I used to believe, or at least hope, that expanding one's consciousness and opening the mind's eye could help most people be somehow better, you know? So if there's one thing the tech bros have taught me, it's that it's possible to do drugs wrong.

Amid all the talk of Santa Ragione's HORSES and its banning from a number of digital platforms, I've yet to see much that delves into the politics that visibly form the bones of the game, and which are every bit as on-the-nose as is required in these times. @gemsmoke and I spent three or four hours this afternoon co-playing this monochrome, first-person horror adventure game, and I was struck by its visual and stylistic choices, and clear exposition of the roles of fear, abuse, religion...

I could do with a little help for three of the animals in our family, after travel permit issues in the US left them stranded 5,600km away. What: My Cuban-American partner @gemsmoke has managed to emigrate from the US, but had to leave their animal companions (a psychiatric service dog and two cats) behind, in part because the USDA failed to issue appropriate travel permits during the shutdown last year, despite our vet's best efforts. We've been taking every gig going to make up the...
