You misspelt slacktivism. America sneezes and the whole world catches a cold - not just because you blow up international trade, but because you see your grievances as *the* most important thing, so that they are relevant in *every* situation, so we've all got to suffer through your self-absorption. Do the internet equivalent of wearing a face mask.

You're making it my problem to block every one of the thousands of people that post off-topic on their grievances in every light hearted thread, so no. I am going to make it your problem, because you're being annoying and socially inept. I'm sorry that that's not nice to hear, but I don't say it to be cruel, only in the hopes of achieving a better outcome for everyone. Restricting yourself to posting about privacy and politics in threads that are relevant is not a big ask.

All animals are producing heat by metabolism, and so are naturally hotter than their environments. Being in an environment that is as hot as your ideal body temperature means your metabolism raises your temperature above the ideal. The only way around this is active cooling - like sweating - which is generally uncomfortable as a signal that you are expending energy on keeping cool and try and get somewhere cooler where you won't have to expend as much energy on that.

Did you accidentally get on your soapbox instead of shitposting? Are you now complaining about people complaining about that instead of shitposting?

They'll still undercut, just as they are doing. I just don't think moaning about the companies makes any sense. If you imagine the most utopian scenario you think of, with communal ownership of all production, how do you think the commune is going to allocate GPUs? It's going to stick a load in hyped AI products and gamers will be last in line, just like now.

If this is about supply pressures, it's not Nvidia acting as a cartel, is it? AMD has, as far as I understand, been outcompeting Nvidia on value for a good while. If this is Nvidia just being anti-consumer, I'd expect that to continue

Ok, I agree that if musk’s objective in buying twitter was to amplify nazi voices, that confirms him as a nazi. Do you have convincing proof that that was his objective? Convincing enough that some random guy buying a car who “doesn’t care about politics” would immediately believe he’s a nazi? I don’t think so. He stated his aim was to remove barriers to free speech. People disagree over what speech should be protected as a matter of principle, so our hypothetical buyer may very well have th...

Have you read or watched a review of the cybertruck? I have, it did not say it was shit. In fact the main reason I watched was to see whether they addressed the elephant in the room of how it looks like a stretch dumpster. They did not. The hard-line anti-cybertruck stuff is absolutely not universal, same as the anti-musk stuff.

I find this happens to me if I panic and do the stretch too quickly. But if I do it at fast but measured pace it works every time. My dad told be the trick at a time when I was getting night cramps often and it changed my life

Just post your political stuff in a political memes community. Posting this relentless depressing shit here does not make me want you to suffer less, I can tell you that, no matter how much "love and solidarity" you follow it up with.

It sounds like you have never come across the concept of the tragedy of the commons? The particular topic of waste disposal is a good one because we have good historical accounts of the transition from a free-for-all to regulated, paid profession. Take the example of Paris, which in the 17th century was infamous for its dirt and stink. Repeated efforts to force people to keep their own streets clean failed, and ultimately residents complained that if the King wanted the streets to be clean, he...

I don't believe I did. I was always talking about whether it was necessary to offer incentives to do jobs like waste collection or if they'd be done anyway in an ideal society.

  • View post

If you agree most people need to be paid to do work, then we have no disagreement on the topic at hand, so there is no need to argue at all.

Do you think your uncle was in any way representative of the millions of people employed in waste disposal? The city of Birmingham's bins have gone partially uncollected for over a year due to a dispute over pay. If waste disposal workers were, in general, doing it for the love of it, they'd surely be happy to do it for minimum wage. Seems more likely your uncle was the odd one out, and most people need to be paid to do stinky work.

Because "kochen" isn't a good translation for the english word "to cook" - at least not in all scenarios. When used with an object (*etwas* kochen, like Wäsche) it means more like "to boil" or "to brew". So you "kocht Kaffee" (but one never "cooks coffee"). And it certainly is not true that you "ein Steak kocht"! So there's an overlap in meaning but it's not the exact same thing. This makes kochen a partial fals...
