When The Last Jedi came out one of my biggest complaints was the characterization of Luke Skywalker; gone was the hero who saw the good in everything and personified Hope, replaced by a grumpy old man who failed at everything. This depiction was especially jarring if you had read the Timothy Zahn series and subsequent novels. Skip forward to Lanterns and the way Hal Jordan is being portrayed. He isn’t exactly the same grumpy old man but very similar. Watching the first episode made me realize t...

It’s not headlamp season yet but it will be soon. 2 mile warmup, 10x60 second hill repeats, and then long cool down for a total of 9 miles. Then it was off to Planet Fitness for Back day. #running

I’ve been nervous about stuff at work for a bit, today 16 people were let go. HR didn’t release names and because 95% of the organization is remote I have no idea who was affected.

NBA needs to start training camp or something, these players got too much free time on their hands. Just a string of ridiculous podcast takes right now.

RE: https://mstdn.social/@Holberg/117173751412790232 I need Dana Schwartz on this story immediately, there are at least two episodes of Noble Blood here

What happened to Natalie Dormer? She seemed like the total package; great acting, able to work in small indie projects & mega franchises, and totally cool. I don’t think I’ve seen her in anything new in at least 5 years.

It’s fun when you look at punk albums from 1982 about how the world is shit and everything is awful and then look at our current circumstances and you’d trade places with them in a heartbeat. I especially love Dead Kennedy’s complaints about Jerry Brown being a fascist, things got soooo much worse.

When did Steve Zahn become such a good actor? I think of him as a fun guy who is pleasant to have around, but his performance in Silo is great. #television

The last 10 minutes of Silo S3E9 were rough. I think knowing what was coming made it harder to watch #television

The USS Lincoln is making their first port call in over 250+ days…in Thailand. There are 20 year old Sailors with over 6 months of salary sitting in the bank that are about to set loose on a country where you can live like a literal king for $100 a day. Leadership either needs to enforce strict liberty policies OR collect everyone’s cell phones before hitting port to limit the amount of evidence created. There are no other options.

Final Troll Run. I took today off work to stretch the long weekend and possibly go to Seattle for WC watching which means I had time to drive 45 minutes to run. Started at the trailhead for Zoe & the Swamp Monster and worked my way around to Rainier Trail to Jakob Two Trees, I stretched it out to an 8 mile run. #running

Only got woken up a few times from fireworks, I’d call that a win. I do have questions for the person blowing stuff up at 5am: was this an all night affair or did you get up and start exploding things? Meanwhile the Seattle Reddit reads like a police blotter, multiple parks left in shambles from revelers. Some jackases decided to start a bonfire of Lime scooters on a turf soccer field, so that park will be out of commission for a while.

Called an audible and headed to Ballard for this morning’s run so I could visit Freddie Feetsplinter. 8 miles mostly along Burke Gilman, I’ll have to do this again so I can have brunch at the breakfast at the place I used for parking. #running

It would be interesting if they pursued the “Kingpin got Karen Page hooked on heroin” storyline but there is 0% chance Disney would pursue that.

#running tip: When I first started running I read that fabric softener interferes with the moisture wicking properties of clothing so I started hanging my running clothes to dry. I think this also extends the service life of my running clothes; this is supported by the fact I’m currently wearing a shirt from a running store in Connecticut that I have not visited in at least 13 years.

Normally I’d let my new boss chase the shiny-object bullshit our government relations guy throws around like confetti but I don’t want to spend 12 hours going to & from Yakima on a Friday. I think I need to take this one for the team so she can see firsthand why we disregard 90% of the stuff he throws out.

Everyone screaming “all the blue states should aggressively gerrymander too” don’t understand the judicial Calvinball SCOTUS has been playing the past 20+ years. Any D gerrymanders will be illegal, R gerrymanders will be totally cool.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters S2 was pretty good. They took the complaints from S1 (not enough monsters, the 50s characters were better) and answered them as best they could, mostly with lots of kajiu fights throughout the season. Amber Midthunder was criminally underutilized, hopefully S3 the writers will give her more to work with. #television #scifi

Half marathon was a success!! Maintained a steady pace throughout the race. I thought I was going to fast and worried about dying late but the legs held strong. Afterwards I got something from the Himalayan food truck; I’m not entirely certain what Momocha is but it was delicious (especially the sauce he used). Overall a good morning #running
