Today, by reading that thread, I learned that a (accessibility compliant) website has BETTER usability for screenreader users than for sighted users, because the screenreader exposes *more* semantic information and navigation options to the user than the browser does in sighted-user mode.
For example showing a list of headings and jumping to them instantly, without having to manually scroll all the way down if the website author hasn't explicitly put a table of contents on the page.
Imagine if we designed things to be actually usable well for EVERYONE. (insert utopia.jpg)
