But being totally blind, I keep my nails short for ease of use, so I don't scratch/hurt myself or unintentionally ruin things, and on a completely different level, because I'm not feminine (obviously not related to classical guitar, since both sexes do it there).

@dandylover1@someplace.social Just to give you a clearer idea of nail length. Usually they say around 1 to 2mm past the fingertip, but 3 to 5mm for the thumbnail. So not really that crazy long, but perhaps long enough to be a problem as you've described. And that's only on the plucking hand. For the fretting hand the nails should be as short as possible. I play multiple instruments, and the happy medium for me is equal to the fingertip.
