@emilymbender@dair-community.social Do you have a concept that describes the second lesson about how we interpret language in a way where we imagine a mind behind it? I'm reminded of Dennett's intentional stance and regularly think how useful it is to have concepts like that to make sense of why we project our own minds into other things. Come to think of it, 'projection' might be a good old psychological concept too.

@malte@radikal.social @emilymbender@dair-community.social I would say a good start is Grice’s ”Logic and Conversation” explaining the ”Cooperative principle”, the Gricean maxims, and his theory around that. A chatbot exploits (not in the paper’s sense, but literally) the fact that you think you are participating in a conversation. But that ”conversation” is entirely held up by you.
