I’m a Gen-X so my retirement plan is a deadly heart attack by 55.

You’re almost there, don’t give up! You can do it! I’m also Gen X, I have no retirement funds at all. I’m not counting on social security but if society collapses and I don’t get anything out of it after paying in my whole life I might just become a terrorist. If my parents died tomorrow I’d probably inherit close to $200k but they’re already far healthier than I am, and if I do somehow outlive them there’ll probably be nothing left after medical expenses and inflation.
