One of my cognitive quirks is that I can expend my drive to complete a task by talking through what I will do. It's a matter of degree, and the more I talk something out the less likely I am to actually do it. You might imagine how a daily mandatory brief, detailing my plans for the day and requiring me to answer in detail if someone wants to know more, might affect me.
