i see what youre saying, but please dont use the word polygamy that way… the word youre looking for is polyamory, or the more general nonmonogamy. polygamy might be technically correct in the root word sense, but the modern definition means one man with multiple wives.

Isn’t that polygyny? Polygamy still doesn’t specify genders, I don’t think. We also have polyandry for one woman with multiple husbands. That said, all three terms are specific to marriage and AFAIK generally refer to relationships where one person has multiple partners who themselves do not have more partners, so polyamory is generally more useful.
