It's weird that Russia joining NATO was actually something that had been seriously considered at one point. What does the alliance even exist for if Russia is now a part of it? You would basically achieve the same result just dissolving NATO after the Cold War, but now a bunch of bureaucrats get to keep their jobs, which honestly was probably the whole point of the consideration in the first place.
