I've been watching the SSB/CW mods for the Quansheng HT with interest for a while and been sorely tempted. The most recent QRP Quarterly have an article by Bob Witte, K0NR on the UV-K5.
Now even more tempted but how dirty are these things on an specan? Anyone looked?

@va3db@mastodon.radio Spurious emissions (on 2m specifically) seem fine https://youtu.be/BE2Y7V2tGMM?si=wVUXIyNqqUB-YXWy but also +1 for the 2m filter from N6ARA that N1CLC mentioned in another comment: https://n6ara.com/product/tinyfilter-2m/ it will cut down any harmonics even further if you are worried. Also: people have mentioned the hardware mod and the KI6CR cable, but you don't even have to hardware mod if you don't want to - you can use the 2 side buttons on the radio as an iambic paddle! Sounds atrocious, but really it's ok. Not terrible, not great.
