@Gaolaitch@cupoftea.social the person in that particular example is also a social friend, as are some of the other culprits, and I guess that’s the bit that’s bothersome. Because they’re not terrible people, they just do occasional morally questionable (to me) things. And apparently that’s normal and if I shun/reject it I’m the oddball. Which is not a nice feeling. All of this is just a rant more about my own psychological failings in understanding others than anything else, I feel.

    @SquirrelwithaninvisibleW@mastodon.social mm yeah that’s harder. the best outcome is probably that your reaction will cause them to reflect a bit about the unethical nature of their actions, and they eventually come to accept that they shouldn’t continue. on their own time, without being told to. it would help is if some other volunteer were caught and disciplined for exactly the same offence. shall i volunteer for that role? (not serious about this)
