@lproven to your points: 1. What? You literally called it a crusade in the headline. 2. Thoughts are free. Here are facts from a longtime X11 and Wayland dev: https://people.freedesktop.org/~daniels/lca2013-wayland-x11.pdf 3. Fair. Security is oftentimes invisible, though the lack of it may not be. Not caring about politics is a slippery slope. You may be in a position privileged enough to do so and ignore others who aren't. Not throwing a stone, I myself ignore a lot of things wrong in the world. @theregister

@fedops @theregister As for the slide deck: yes, I have seen that one before. I've done more background research on this than 99% of that peanut gallery... And, I think, than him, and most of the Wayland people. As usual for Wayland advocates, he talks about the shiny they like. He doesn't talk about the stuff they remove. But more importantly, he and they never talk about the alternatives. They never talk about NeWS. They don't even think about X12. They don't talk about Arcan. They never mention Plan 9 and Rio. *That* is the*real* UNIX way: windows are in the filesystem, where UNIX is meant to keep things. They always forget that UNIX is about much more than Linux. They don't know or care that there are about a dozen other current supported X11 servers that *aren't* X.org. But they talk about shiny trinkets, toys that I DGAF about. Frames, smoothness, lack of tearing. I literally could not care less. X11 looks great.
