It'll be interesting to see the SMMT registration figures for this year and whether there's been another swing towards hybrids/EV.
I expect the used EV market is running rather hot right now with oil prices where they are & more affordable cars being sold on as people trade up.

If I lease an EV through Octopus at say £300 (including insurance and maintenance) but save at least £140 per month in fuel that makes the net cost to me ~£120 The purchase price of my car was £3500 and assuming it needs the same in keeping it going for 5 years (optimistic, needs a cambelt & tires) that doesn't make owing it much cheaper than renting an EV (which has a much lower incremental cost per mile). That's comparing a 15 year old Volvo with a new EV, so not exactly a fair comparison...
