This #JukeboxFridayNight we are baring our souls with a #PersonalPlaylist of songs with special meaning in our lives. First up, the song that was playing as I walked in the door at my first school dance in 8th grade. At the time, it felt very true. Today, it serves as a benchmark for the worst song that I still sinehow like a little bit. Loverboy, "Working for the Weekend" (1981) https://youtu.be/dsgBpsNPQ50

Continuing my #PersonalPlaylist, at a different dance, maybe a year later, I wound up dancing with a girl named Mia, whom I didn't know well, but who definitely seemed much cooler than I. This song came on… and kept going… and going, for 9 freaking minutes. I floundered my way through the song, feeling more awkward by the second, then beat a hasty retreat & never spoke to her again. Soft Cell, "Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go" [12" remix] (1981) https://youtu.be/HQWWmcbrBiw #JukeboxFridayNight
