@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place I fully expect youth suicide to go way up, with nowhere to go physically or virtually.
My ex-husband told me this story from when he was a kid, raised by people who were honestly sick in the head, and therefore spending his early childhood with worse-than-useless moral guidance or knowledge of how things work. Well, he had a hamster. And one day he got mad at the hamster, and squeezed it until it died, and that's how he learned things die if you squeeze them until a point of no return where they can't be squeezed anymore.
All the people hand-wringing about youth suicide and school shootings, while supporting policies to "protect" kids from having any kind of life, are going to be learning (or more likely, pointedly ignoring) similar lessons about squeezing in the next five years. And I'm fucking pissed about it. The dead kids don't come back after the adults finally learn. The broken kids don't unbreak all the way. Some don't unbreak much at all.

@MaddieM4@raphus.social @eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place I know I'd have been among the dead. And you just know they'd take it as evidence they're not restricting them enough We have to fight back. Not just against all these online restrictions, but also against all the physical restrictions too
