the ethical argument against "ai" sits in the same part of my brain as the ethical argument against batteries. there is evil to be found around most tech and i dont think the evil of the ape is anything special because, well, i dont think the ape is this fucking special! i dont want to rot my brain, i dont want to make myself dependent on a big "ai" lab, but within those qualifiers i would totally run a local model even just to get in the guts of how it works. i *do* want to do that in general and i want to do at least a little project in pytorch or tensorflow to get a better understanding. i wanna just say this and maybe pin it, because i feel like im backing myself into a corner where i only say the anti "ai" things i think, which is what i feel the need to do most of the time because most of what i see from this industry (and the world) is acting like the ape will be skynet
