@dougmerritt@mathstodon.xyz As you may know, I had an exchange about with with @jhlagado@jorts.horse about whether there was genuinely something magical about Z80s as a substrate (mostly virtual now, formerly mostly real) for computing. Or whether it was retro kitsch.
This is similar to [dartmouth+] #basic and #lisp in different ways, though they are both spawn of that dartmouth workshop on AI in the mid-50s.
But basic was basically an attainable home computer, and lisp was sort of commentary on fortran list macros.
